Cooperstown Cheese Recall – Please Read
COOPERSTOWN CHEESE RECALL NOTICE
Out of an abundance of caution, we are advising market-goers that Cooperstown Cheese Co. LLC, has recalled some of their cheese products that tested positive for listeria.
These cheeses were sold at locations across New York State including the Peekskill Farmers Market on September 9 and 16, 2017. Consumers with questions about the recalled product may contact Cooperstown Cheese at 978-257-4635.
The recalled cheeses are: Toma Celena “Raw Milk Alpine Table Cheese” with plant number 36-8524 and an additional code of 51017 and “Roasted Garlic Cheddar” code 60617. Anyone who still has Roasted Garlic Cheddar or Toma Celena should dispose of them immediately. All package styles and sizes with these codes are subject to the recall.
No known illnesses have been reported to the New York State Agricultural Department and Markets through October 13, 2017.
It could, however, take up to 70 days after exposure for symptoms to appear.
Listeria may cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the frail or elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.
Healthy adults may suffer short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infections may also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
Anyone who consumed the cheese and are concerned about their health should seek medical advice.
Additional concerns or questions can be directed to the Westchester County Department of Health at (914) 813-5000.

Our top priority is to bring fresh, safe cheese to market and we are as concerned about this as much as you are. We are working diligently to institute new quality controls steps and testing procedures.
